My family and I are looking to redo a house on the lake and we are hoping to replace some of the outdated windows. Is this a cost efficient option? What are the benefits? ~ Brian R.

The answer to that question is a little complicated, but I will give it a shot…
Replacing old windows with new more energy efficient ones will certainly save you on your energy bills. The actual dollar amount of savings would require quite a bit more information to calculate, but if you have a lot of windows it can amount to quite a bit.

Other considerations are savings on maintenance costs, reduced fading of interior furnishings and flooring, greatly increased comfort, and of course increased re-sale value.
